Separation of "Church and State" and Most Other Resaurants In a year where most if not all of us are pinching pennies and being very careful where we spend each dollar, we found it worthwhile to mention an experience we had last night. For a birthday dinner, we decided to go to Church & State downtown in the Biscuit Company Lofts building. First, the bad - we called twice in the days leading up to our dinner and never got a response on our reservation request. But that's where the 'bad' ended. From the second we entered the front door to the moment we put on our jackets to leave, every employee in there was fantastic. CLICK HERE to read on...

That's right, it's international Non-Violence Day today in memory of Mahatma Ghandi's birthday. It's also the anniversary of the first Peanuts cartoon every to be published. That seems to go hand-in-hand with Non-Violence Day somehow....except for the whole 'pulling the football out of the way at the last minute thing". Ugh! Anyway, be nice. Curb that road rage. It's gonna be a completely gorgeous weekend so while we've all had a crappy year, I'm predicting we will all feel like a million bucks after a couple glasses of wine and the LA air finally has that chilly snap. wines Montepellier Viognier 2008, California Naughty Boy Chardonnay 2008, Potter Valley, Mendocino, California **NEW VINTAGE Tenuta Sant'Antonio Nanfre Valpolicella 2007, Italy Vinus "Les Dons" Coteaux du Languedoc 2006, France Scott Harvey Amador County Mountain Selection Zinfandel 2006, California

The Poll Booth - Analogies In our last poll, California sauv blanc and Spanish albarino tied for 1st place when asked "which white wine you'd drink if threatened by Great White shark with a rabid monkey strapped to its back carrying a machete." Albarino, huh? You guys are cool. Sign my yearbook, please. Had an SAT nightmare the other night involving analogies, so here it goes... France is to Fine Food, as California is to... You're just gonna have to CLICK THROUGH to vote. Do it. Do IT! If you don't click through, not only can you not sign my yearbook, I'll probably steal your lunch money, trip you on the bus, and make you relate to After School Specials. Speaking of after school specials, I went to a middle school in New Jersey where kids were taking the freon out of classroom air conditioners and huffing it during class. I think the nose-hair icicles gave them away. The devil is in the details, huffers. Ariana Huffingtons.
