There was even a study released this year that may show that a little red wine helps prevent cancer. But there is no more impactful way to help fight Cancer than to donate to the most effective Cancer charities. I can't imagine that there is anyone reading this right now that hasn't been directly effected by Cancer in some way. Here at CoWineCo we've lost friends, customers and family members to Cancer and once a year we pick a day to donate 50% of all profits to Cancer research. So please, if you're going to stock the wine fridge soon, hold off until this day: Tuesday, September 22nd. That's this coming Tuesday and all bottle sales, glass sales, beers, sakes, accessorries, EVERYTHING will count towards our total donation between 11am and 9pm.
Proceeds will be donated to The Cancer Research Institute

The Trickle Down Theory Recently, we flew back east to see the family on Virgin America (yes, Virgin, free advertising...in return we accept free tickets, upgrades, and pretty, shiny objects) and learned something we never knew before regarding flying with wine. A flight attendant asked what was in our rather large shipper box and we told them "lots of wine" because the closest wine store to where we were headed was about fifty miles away. Now we always thought that the danger of putting wine in a wool sock in your suitcase was that it could easily break and you lose the wine and ruin your belongings all at once. Nope, that's the least of your worries. Suitcases are often stacked so if yours is on top and the wine leaks through onto all the other bags, they will actually trace it all back to your suitcase and make you pay for everyone's belongings. She mentioned it happens fairly often and the bill can be in the thousands. So, to all those customers who asked about flying with wine - we were TOTALLY kidding when we said just wrap it up in some underwear. Get it? Great joke. Totally, totally, kidding.
COMMENT HERE if you've had any experience with this, or just like to talk about travel and/or disasters.

Friday, September 18th 5:30-8:30pm (wines by the glass also available from 4:00 to 11pm) $15/person 5 wines and gourmet cheeses from Auntie Em's Marketplace Please RSVP to: info@cowineco.com or (323) 478-1985 Folks, tonight we have the return of 4 of the most popular wines from 2009 and one gorgeous new white burgundy from Bichot, a Domaine that hasn't been imported into the U.S. for five years. If the wines aren't enough of a draw for you, consider Etienne Burgaus, a one-legged bootmaker from the Languedoc who, 193 years ago today, developed what we know today as the 'urinal'. Etienne for obvious reasons had issues getting up and down and needed a way to get in, do his business, and get back to drinking. And come on, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that at one point during my college education i was brainstorming similar get-rich-quick-with-alcohol schemes. Alright Etienne, we salute you. wines Bichot Clos de L'Eglis Macon-Village 2007, Burgundy, France Vinedo de los Vientos Gewurz Blend 2007, Uruguay Uvaggio Rosso Vecchio Barbera NV, Sierra Foothills, California Preston Dry Creek Zinfandel 2007, California The Chook Sparkling Shiraz, Australia (yes, same as 'Black Chook' but they got sued for the name)

The Poll Booth - Death or White Wine Surprisingly, 34% of you chose Prosecco as your non-Champagne bubbly of choice when faced with certain death. We'd like to continue down that road of thought and ask this... if a Great White shark with a rabid monkey strapped to its back carrying a machete were closing in on you, and you had the choice to drink: a) CA Sauv Blanc, b) Gruner Veltliner, c) Dry Languedoc White, d) Albarino, or e) Vinho Verde, which would you choose?
