Dear Santa...
Dear Santa, Ponies are pretty great and all....bikes with banana seats, Shogun Warriors, and the all-holy Green Machine, but listen up...here's what I really want this year:
1. A modern wine rack from a bunch of crafty Swedes that comes in a cool suitcase box with room for a bottle of wine -- $49.99/box (wine bottle pictured, but not included)
2. A Kimax Flask which doubles as a nerdy wine decanter if you aren't heating it with a bunsen burner in Chemistry 101 -- $39.99/piece
3. In my stocking, a Colorado Wine Company gift card (preferrably for many, many, many dollars) which can be used for anything in the store including tastings, accessories, and all of the CoWineCo Monthly Wine Clubs.
4. And finally, of you're not too busy, put a gift card on all my gifts which ALSO contains one of them nifty no-drip pour discs -- $2.99/card w/ disc

Good Morning Glory
We aren't peanut brittle connoisseurs or anything, in fact when Max Lesser walked into our shop, I couldn't remember the last time I had tasted any. So, he tells us he started this gourmet confections company and then pulled 8 different flavors of brittle out of a bag and pushed them across the counter like a a wad of cash in a bad cop drama. Tasting notes really wouldn't do these things justice since texture and crunch is such a big part of the experience, but like great wine, the flavors are so separate and unique it is just remarkable. Our top three are now for sale in the shop for $5.99/box and they just happen to be Christmas stocking sized: 1. New Mexico Chile Pumpkin Seed 2. Cocoa Nib Coffee Bean and Pecan 3. Fleur de Sel and Peanut

Playin' With the Queen of Hearts
Though Juice Newton would disagree, it is very smart to play with this Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts Pinot Noir from Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards in Santa Barbara has been the object of much drama in our store....it's fantastic wine for the price....but ouch, that label... And proof that people actually read this newsletter sometimes, we had a guy come in and comment on how ugly the label was, then walk up to the front desk with a smile on his face and introduce himself as regional sales manager for Lucas & Lewellen Wines.....ouch again. Well, now there is even more reason to ignore the cover of this book. The new 2007 vintage of this pinot is hands-down the best pinot they have ever produced due in part to a new winemaker with a bit of a reputation. Megan McGrath joined Lucas & Lewellen last year after crafting award-winning pinots with Flowers Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast and Daniel Gehrs. McGrath is all about terrior, insisting on affecting the grapes as little as possible from the earth to the bottle. This just might be the best value in pinot we've ever tasted since we opened the store. It is DEFINITELY the best under $14 pinot we've ever had. Recession Schemession....you can have your pinot and drink it too. $13.99/btl -- arrives on Wednesday -- which is today -- how convenient!

Wine Tasting: Here's to You, Canasta Jones Friday, December 12th 5:30-8:30pm (wines by the glass also available from 4:00 to 11pm) $15/person 5 wines and gourmet cheeses from Auntie Em's Marketplace Please RSVP to: info@cowineco.com or (323) 478-1985 On this day 34 years ago, a man was born that would forever change how screen doors were made. Annoyed that he and his friends would often walk through screen doors accidentally when in a rush (read "drunk"), he started Riverpoint Screen Doors in Knoxville, Tennessee, making all his screen doors with a silvery coating that would glisten in the sunlight, alerting the oblivious passers-by of their presence. Now, he has been criticized for not solving the walk-through-the-screen-door-at-night thing, but if I know Canasta, he's working on an electrified version as we speak. Cheers to you Canasta, you got the entrepreneurial brains that keep this country running! wines Koehler Sauvignon Blanc, Santa Ynez, California Gruet Demi Sec Sparkler (don't let the name fool you, it aint sweet), New Mexico Wisteria Cabernet Sauvignon, California Sant Maria Rancher's Blend Red, California Bodegas Servilio Roble, Spain
