Like it or not, the holy grail of wine finds in the last few years has been good, affordable pinot noir.  Add in 'Oregon' and it is even more impossible to find.  This is why we were so perplexed when one of our long-time reps waltzed in with this beauty last week, a 2nd label of acclaimed pinot noir producer, Rex Hill Vineyards.  Second labels are a great source of value, but are inherently inconsistent as they are many are only produced in years where the yield is abundant or there is a very good deal on fruit somewhere.  At $14.99, this is one of the best and most affordable pinots on the market today.

So, come for the pinot, stay for the Riesling-Gewurztraminer-Primitivo-Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre.
